In the wilderness, you may encounter bears, wolverines, lynx, and wolves. Birdlife is rich, including capercaillie, crane, osprey, and loon. In dense spruce forests, you’ll find Siberian jay and nutcracker.
Kitulankierros, a 10 km trail, passes majestic spruce forests, wetlands, and old forestry huts. Take a break at Porttilampior Kitulanlampi shelters.
Tiilikka offers varied nature – mires, forests, and narrow peninsulas with sandy beaches, with Venäjänhiekka as the park’s gem. Popular trails like Uiton kierto and Virvatulten polku are easy to follow, and the area is part of the restored Tiilikka–Älänne paddling route.
In summer, Vuokatti provides excellent hiking and cycling opportunities.
