Trails with a history The nature around Falun and Borlänge is full of trails. Here you follow paths that were once trodden when the people in the village brought their animals to the shack. Other paths were used by the valley people when they went to Stockholm to look for work. And in the world heritage site Falun, several hundred years of mining have left behind slag heaps, cabin sites and beautiful miners' farms. The tracks give an extra dimension to the book's walks. Some of the tours in the book start in or just outside the town, others have their starting point a little further away. You can reach all hikes during the day and be back home by evening, but some are best suited to do with an overnight stay, in a rest house or your own tent. The lengths vary between one and 34 kilometers and even you who want to hike with the children will find suitable tour suggestions. The author Karin Runesson is a biologist and loves the outdoors. She lives in Falun and has worked with forest and nature conservation issues at Borlänge municipality. For Calazo, Karin has previously written the very popular Barnens utebok.
