The Gästrikeleden takes you to several of Gästrikland's most beautiful natural areas. At the same time, you move through a fascinating part of Sweden's industrial history. The tracks are visible everywhere – mine pits, coal mines, blast furnaces, cabins. Around some of the mill environments there are businesses to this day, while others are slowly being reclaimed by nature. This book describes the trail's 290 kilometers divided into 17 stages. You also get tips on day trips that allow you to easily experience the best that the trail has to offer. The book is also full of facts and stories about the places and people who influenced the development of the landscape. The author Gunnika Isaksson-Lutteman is a freelance writer and photographer. She has previously written the books Vandra Roslagsleden and Vandra Upplandsleden.
